Movie poster illustrations

The illustrations for movies from the 70ies and 80ies done for the posters and VHS boxes are really something. More often than not they are way better than the movie itself. This one makes a fine example of that.

Teeth

You often hear that hands and feet are the most difficult to draw and paint. That might be true, but teeth are nearly impossible as well. Often when done not a 100% right they make the drawing look uncanny, which I always see as a quality. Illustrator Andrew Ritchie knows all this, and puts it to some use (the picture is from Cthulhu Tales #1 by BOOM! studios).

Filthy gore

I'm a real sucker for gore (of the fake & safe type). I don't want to know why, but things are like that. But even I as a well-trained gore consumer felt a bit pale when I first laid eye to these pages from some manga. If anyone knows from which manga it is, please leave a message!

Geen woning, geen kroning!

In the eighties Amsterdam was the stage for some hefty rioting (actually Amsterdam was a stage for rioting from the sixties onwards. These '00 years are the first relative quite years (and a bit boring too)). One of the most famous for its getting-out-of-hand and an unlikely collaboration between the activist left and some soccer hooligans are the investiture riots during the investiture of queen Beatrix.

The obese thing from the deep

It looks a bit like it was awakened from a very well deserved night's rest, and about to wreck havoc on the person responsible for that. It also looks like it can walk.

Functional tree sculptures

In the U.S, when you are a tree and happen to find yourself at the wrong place on the wrong time, this is what they'll do to you.
